The Festive Season is approaching and from North to South Italian Cities are preparing for it.

Italian cities are getting ready for this long-awaited festive season with an explosion of lights, sounds and colors.

In this post we selected the most renowned cities for their lights and festive decorations. Let’s start from North and end to the South of Italy in a journey at the discovery of the most beautiful festive season’s lights.

  1. Milan:This year it will be “Super Christmas 2019”. Milan is preparing to embellish some of its symbolic places with lights and magic for this festive season. In the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, considered the “Milan parlor” elegant and evocative, the tradition of the digital Swarovski signed tree and the bright vault continues: the tree is more than 12 meters tall and decorated with more than 10 thousand ornaments, including over 2 thousand Swarovski crystal Christmas stars, illuminated by 36 thousand lights and with an impressive crystallized star-shaped tip. On the night of 6th December, the Christmas tree sponsored by Esselunga will be inaugurated in Piazza Duomo: it will be innovative and sustainable, with plays of light and surrounded by a green ring of fir trees that will be replanted. The windows of the shops will frame the walks under the Christmas lights that will decorate all the main streets of the city, from Corso Vittorio Emanuele to Via Mercanti and Via Dante, Corso Venezia and Monte Napoleon. A must see is the Christmas village and the Darsena, all enlighted and with water games sponsored by Vodafone.
  2. Florence: Florence fashion district shines with bright Christmas lights. A ball of lights has arrived in via Tornabuoni, placed and lit in Piazza Santa Trinita. A unique show that makes this renowned street even more beautiful. Many people have already taken photos inside the luminous structure decorated with the inimitable Florentine lily. Equally beautiful is the gift pack – always bright – positioned near the church of Saints Michele and Gaetano. On the night of 8th December, as per tradition of the festive season, the big Christmas tree will lit up and the Florence F-Light Festival will start. This year the Festival is dedicated to the Moon and many central monument of Florence will be lit up with beautiful images. New this year will be the Florence Ice Village: 300 mt long runaway at the Fortezza da Basso together with the Christmas Village.
  3. Gubbio: Gubbio is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Europe, in the heart of the Umbria Region, central Italy. It is one of the main places for the festive season in Italy, above all for the Christmas lights. There is a Christmas tree like no other, which is being done in Gubbio every year, since 1981. It is known as the biggest Christmas tree in the world and it needs hundreds of volunteers to be realized because it is very tall and very large. It is “laid” on Monte Ingino creating a wonderful spectacle of panoramic lights.
  4. Salernothe Artistic Lights of Salerno are now an institution for the festive season. Every year hundreds of lights are used to decorate the city in many of its main points and above all in the beautiful historic center. The Christmas lights turn the city into a magical place. You will be struck by the multitude and the variety of the installations. It is a charming show of lights and colors that envelopes in its evocative and fantastic atmosphere. Furthermore the whole city gives a unique atmosphere with its Christmas handicraft shops, markets and lights that will make you feel inside a huge “Crib”.
