Ravenna is famous throughout the world for its mosaics that are largely the legacy of Byzantine glory of which the city was the capital, and this excellence is due to the fact that it preserves the richest world heritage of ancient mosaics of the V and VI centuries.
The art of Ravenna mosaics lives todays through the artisan shops, of which the city is full, which are promoters of artistic activities ranging from architecture to modern art, based on a long experience gained in the restoration and conservation of ancient mosaics.
However there is another art: food! You can say this for all Italy, true, Ravenna, however, offers something special. A dive into the past: La Piadina. The bread used by the ancient Roman Legions that has remained the symbol of Romagna. A product of the ancient tradition, but which has managed to keep up with the times becoming not only a complete meal (frugal, but generous), also an excellent enrichment for a good restaurant.
In the morning we will learn all the secrets for the preparation of this product a real Italian street food: piadina. We will practice and make different types of dough, with lard, oil and different flours, understand the best techniques for preserving and cooking, as well as experimenting classic and modern fillings. For the lunch break, we will taste the piadinas we have made.
In the afternoon we will explore the history, techniques and materials that are used in the world of mosaics. Step by step we will realize your initial letter of the name and experience the art of being a mosaicist for a day. We will use the same materials used by the great masters, glass paste tiles, mirrored glass, murrine and tools such as glass cutter, apron cutting pliers, glass pincers, colored cement and spatula.
To end this wonderful day in beauty, you will keep the product made as your memento.
